Sarah
Mohammed

Sarah attended the first Green Deen Tribe Retreat back in 2017 and has subsequently been involved in Green Deen initiatives, particularly the Ethical Iftar campaign.

She has worked in community organising and facilitating sessions across schools, charities and corporates on social change and inclusion.

She has worked with young people across London supporting them with social action projects. She is a champion of Muslim women re- engagement and access to nature on a grassroots level. Sarah also enjoys growing her own food and Ikebana.

Rabiah Mali

Rabiah is a qualified Medical Herbalist, Hijama therapist, Auricular acupuncturist, Creative and Community Healer. She set up The Herbal Blessing clinic in 2015, a sliding scale community clinic with the intentions of 'reconnecting' the community with their inner herbalist. Offering consultations, workshops, retreats and walks and holistic therapy that is rooted in traditional and spiritual plant-based healing. Her work involves the use of nature and local plant-based knowledge to nourish a feeling of home in communities where poverty, poor health access and gentrification has fractured the sense of belonging.

She is the founder of the Green Deen Tribe, which responds to the need to heal the wounds of separation and lack of access to nature by Muslim Women, which is all too often rooted in colonisation, racism, other socioeconomic factors and racialised Islamophobia.

The retreats combine the different aspects of our work, whilst providing an opportunity to ‘disconnect in order to reconnect’. From silent meditative walks, to workshops on biomimicry, prophetic stewardship, and sacred geometry, to eating nourishing vegetarian meals together, the retreats offer a holistic exploration for muslim R women to reconnect to nature and thier roles as stewards.

To be a steward of the earth you need to know the earth, caught up in the rat race of life many of us are largely disconnected from the earth that we come from. The Green Deen Retreats are just what one needs to reconnect with the earth, reconnect with yourself and reconnect with Allah. The team hold the space beautifully for participants to do just that. Will definitely keep my eyes out for the next one.

"I really appreciate the space that was created on the retreat. I felt held, connected and supported. The walks were perfectly paced and there was so much space for connection - human connection, nature connection and connection to Allah. I can't thank the team enough for all the work they put in to making this happen. It was exactly what was needed."
